Ceiling Fan Perks
by Abbel North

Desktop and stand-alone varieties of fans have been popular
household items forever, at least since electricity entered
our lives. Ceiling fans, on the other hand, is a more
recent addition to the household. They have been around
for the past few decades and may be mounted to just about
any ceiling for the purpose of air circulation and cooling.
Anyone thinking about adding a ceiling fan to their home
might find these tips of help.
A ceiling fan is cheaper than an air conditioner. Putting
in a room fan is cheaper than buying an air conditioner for
either the room or the entire house. In addition, it takes
less electricity to run a ceiling fan than it does an air
conditioner. Depending on where you live and how often you
would need to cool a room, you might end up spending
minimal costs for adequate ventilation. Of course, if you
live in a very warm or humid climate that dominates a good
part of the year, you might want to consider other options.
Or you can start with a fan and if it doesn't do the job
or stops working after a time, then you can move on to the
more expensive equipment.
Maintenance is far simpler with ceiling fans than it is
with air conditioners. All you need to do is give them a
quick wiping to clear away dust and debris, squirt a little
oil on all movable parts, and they are ready for use again.
Air conditioners, however, often require the services of a
skilled professional that has to pay a visit to your home
only to hand you a bill that can easily exceed a hundred
dollars should any defective parts be found. With ceiling
fans, it is a good idea to understand what outer surfaces
require cleaning in order to prevent the engine from
becoming clogged.
Ceiling fan owners find that their units are less intrusive
and far more obliging than air conditioners. They are much
quieter and are available in numerous styles and sizes to
suit just about anyone's needs. An air conditioner may be
purchased with varying motor sizes but they unfortunately
remain similar in appearance making it a true burden to
beautify the rooms in which they reside. This is not the
case with ceiling fans as their designs can actually be
coordinated throughout the home with some owners choosing
a different fan design for every room.
When you choose to buy a ceiling fan, you are taking a
conservative approach to an ages-old problem. Instead of
consuming significant amounts of electric power in the
continuous need to adjust room temperature, you are using a
smaller amount that will deplete energy stores more slowly
and cost less. The next time you go shopping for an air
cooler, check out the local supply of ceiling fans first.
